I originally qualified as an Aerospace Engineer and worked for 12 years for GE Aviation. This didn’t sit comfortably with my environmental conscious, so I left and volunteered with the Marine Conservation Society and pursued a MSc in Oceanography which led to a PhD in the same subject. I had amazing opportunities to work in the Southern and Atlantic Oceans. When I returned home, I worked for the RSPB as the UK Marine Programme Manager advocating for nature positive offshore wind developments, marine protected areas and sustainable fishing. I then joined SRT to get my feet on terra firma in the Operations team. I am the Programme Manager for the Middle Severn Operations Team where I will oversee the coordination of a diverse portfolio of catchment restoration schemes. I will work closely with my counterparts in other areas of the catchment, and the wider management team, to develop new projects ideas, explore and test innovative ways of working, and share technical advice and knowledge. My motivation is the love of being outdoors, especially beside or in rivers. It keeps me fit and mentally healthy. I also want healthy ecosystems for nature and climate and healthy communities that can enjoy being outdoors. I therefore wanted my career to reflect my passions and help where I can, to restore resilient river systems for all.
