Cinderford Brook

In progress

A multi-year project tackling the ecological impacts of low flows on the Cinderford Brook in the Forest of Dean through increasing aquatic habitat diversity, improving connectivity and holding back more water in the landscape to reduce drought periods.

The challenge

We are working to improve the ecological resilience of the Cinderford Brook in response to low flows

Aims & Targets

  • Increasing habitat diversity of the Cinderford Brook
  • Improving connectivity for fish through habitat improvements
  • Using natural solutions to hold water back and reduce dangerous effects from drought periods

Team Highlight
“The Cinderford Brook Project is an exciting opportunity to improve this overlooked river. With its important placement flowing into the Severn Estuary, the Cinderford Brook should hold good numbers of once abundant species such as eel, lampreys and salmon, but unfortunately poor habitat and large barriers stop them from thriving here. Our project is working to improve this “
