Tony has worked in roles including infrastructure management, social and economic regeneration and land-use planning across a large part of England and the Welsh Marches. Alongside his law degree and post graduate studies in environmental management, Tony was a chartered town planner until his retirement. He has served as a non-executive director or trustee in organisations including an industrial heritage museum, a city-based charity organising outdoor activities for children and a community regeneration company in an historic town on the river Severn.

For twelve years before his retirement, Tony was employed in a range of senior roles at the national charity having guardianship of canals, rivers and reservoirs in England and Wales. Roles included managing a business unit responsible for the West Midlands navigable waterways and involvement in developing the charity’s role when it was created in 2013.

Tony is an ardent fly fisher and helps in the work of clubs with fishing along the Welsh border including on the Severn and its tributaries. This has enabled him to be involved in partnership working in the Shropshire Hills National Landscape.

Tony has a keen interest in environmental management and community regeneration issues and became chair of Severn Rivers Trust in early 2022. He lives in Ironbridge within sight of the river.
