I am a freshwater ecologist, field studies teacher, keen gardener and Shropshire local. My role at Severn Rivers Trust is developing and leading learning workshops for families and school groups. I love to talk about rivers, especially fish passes, shad, salmon, amazing caddis cases, stoneflies, woody debris, slowing the flow and introducing people to the richness that lurks just beneath the surface. I have a playful curiosity with all things Shropshire and am drawn to the myths and legends that have been passed down through the generations to make sense of our landscape. I feel that stories are a powerful and way to engage people young and old with the wonder of our rivers, without feeling like a science lesson. Having said that, sometimes a science lesson is just the right vehicle for inquiry!
