Natural England are asking people to help restore Bergum Wood to oak woodland that will support our native flora and fauna and be a significant addition to the Stiperstones nature reserve.
Currently planted with non-native conifers, the woodland is of little value to local wildlife so Natural England intends to purchase and restore it to broadleaf woodland. Restored to native oak and hazel, the wood will provide habitats for our local woodland species including pied flycatchers, redstarts, tree pipits, bats and dormice. Natural England needs to raise funds for this and for other charitable purposes.
