The Resilient Ecosystem Fund project was a joint project between NRW and Severn Rivers Trust. The fund was targeted at the Welsh upper River Camlad which is currently suffering from poor water quality and low fish numbers.

The Severn Rivers Trust Upper Severn Catchment Officer visited farms in the upper catchment and provided individual and confidential advice on water management. This advice was backed with financial contributions towards getting the work done to improve water quality.

The Project was also targeted to achieve 2.5km of riparian fencing but managed to achieve 3.6 kilometers thanks to landowners voluntarily undertaking fencing works.

The project has made steps towards improving the water quality and fish habitat of the Camlad that will hopefully begin the process of restoring Water Framework Directive ‘good’ status and naturally restoring the fishery potential.
