Killer shrimp Dikerogammarus villosus The Killer shrimp, a highly invasive non-native species, was found for the first time in the UK in Grafham Water, an Anglian Water reservoir, in Cambridgeshire on 3 September 2010. This voracious predator is a threat to a range of native species, including young fish and invertebrates and significantly alters ecosystems. This is the first known outbreak of the Killer shrimp in UK - it is vital that we stop its spread to new locations. For identification sheets and recent briefing notes see

Field work on BAP species has been supported by RP Natural England Countdown 2010 project grant.
New caddis to the UK: A caddisfly species, known to occur elsewhere in Europe, has been recorded in the UK for the first time – exciting and fitting RP news for the 2010 Year of Biodiversity. More details to be released shortly.
