When: 12/09/2017
Type: Volunteer Riverfly Monitoring Training Day

River Teme (Upper Catchment Area)

As well as giving attendees a fascinating insight into the insects in the river, it will enable people to identify if there are problems with the river

The day will include short presentations and practical demonstrations by the river.  Participants will receive a guide to the method and have a chance to try it out for themselves.  Following training participants will be qualified to carry out river insect monitoring and will receive a set of monitoring equipment to take away with them.

The initiative comes from The Riverfly Partnership, an organisation which enables anglers and local communities to take action that will help conserve the river environment.  This initiative provides a simple monitoring technique, which can be used to detect any severe problems in river water quality. For more details about the Riverfly Partnership see

This scheme, used alongside routine monitoring by the Environment Agency/Natural Resources Wales, will ensure that water quality is checked more widely and action taken at the earliest opportunity should any severe problems be detected.

The workshops will from 9.30am to 4pm. These workshops are free of charge and includes lunch.
