A former trade union official and presently a photographer and art historian. Pete is a keen angler and outdoor tea drinker. He manages the web site and all things digital for the SRT.
Jonathan White (Chairman)
Jonathan White was brought up on the banks of the River Teme near Ludlow, and has fished the rivers and streams of the Severn catchment for the last 40 years. He graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Modern History in 1983. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand, Jonathan worked in international banking for 25 years for Schroders and Citigroup, before retiring in 2013. He has been Chairman of Trustees at the Severn Rivers Trust since April 2010 and is also a Trustee of The Rivers Trust, the umbrella organisation for the rivers trust movement in England and Wales.
John Smithson has over 40 years’ professional experience specialising in environmental infrastructure planning, water supply and wastewater engineering. He spent most of his career in senior positions with a major international firm of consulting engineers, and after retiring in 2006 he carried out many assignments for the World Bank, mainly in the Far East. John has spent his working life trying to improve the quality of river water all round the World. However, now he lives in the Severn catchment he has found his ideal river. John is Health and Safety Director for the Trust.
